Jesus taught that the greatest commandment is to love God wholeheartedly, and the second is to love our neighbor as ourselves. The Be Third idea puts that teaching into a memorable order: God first, others second, ourselves third.
That does not mean neglecting personal health or responsibility. It means refusing to make self-interest the center of life. When people choose faith, service and care for one another, the whole community becomes stronger.
The ministry seeks to put that principle into practice through support, encouragement, education, pastoral care and charitable service.

Community Chaplaincy
Offering spiritual and emotional support to residents, first responders and others facing difficult circumstances.
Hospice & Palliative Support
Walking with individuals, families and caregivers during serious illness, palliative care and hospice care.
Chaplain on Call
Making pastoral support available to people who may not otherwise be connected with a local congregation or ministry.
Encouragement
Helping people find practical hope, friendship and spiritual support in seasons when life feels heavy or uncertain.
Service
Using time, talents and resources to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace.
Pastors and chaplains serving through the ministry are described by BeThird.org as ordained, trained, background checked and maintaining a Letter of Good Standing in the states where they serve.
