Our Beliefs

We are loyal to the ministry and teachings of Jesus Christ, and in that spirit we welcome people into the life of the congregation.

We believe God our Creator has given us Jesus Christ so that we may receive eternal life and discover wholeness of life. We believe the Holy Spirit equips us to live together in loving fellowship.

With gratitude, hope and joy, we commit ourselves to worship, fellowship, outreach and continued growth toward Christian maturity. We support the wider body of Christ through prayer, time, talents and resources.

Our purpose is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the fellowship, life and work of the congregation and to bear witness to God’s grace in all we do.

Membership is open to those who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and wish to share in this fellowship through profession of faith and baptism, confirmation of faith, or transfer from another church.

A people and place of grace

We are an interdenominational congregation. All are welcome.

Our story

Serving Golden Beach since 1980.

What began as a seasonal community ministry grew into a permanent congregation with deep roots in the area.

May 1980

A summer ministry begins

Golden Beach Community Church was organized as a summer ministry through the Lake Ozarks Parish with help from Linda Reed, Director of North Shore Ministry at the Missionary United Methodist Community Center. Rev. Larry Brown was hired as pastor.

Early years

Study, worship and community life grow

The church gathered for worship, Bible study in homes, Sunday classes and Vacation Bible School. Outdoor services were also held at Green Cathedral near Lakeside at the end of W-12.

March 28, 1982

A covenant is formed

Those joining the congregation signed a covenant, and committees worked on bylaws and a constitution. The congregation became a nonprofit corporation with a board of directors.

1983

A permanent home

The church purchased 2.5 acres across from the Community Center and placed a doublewide building on the property.

1990–1998

The current church takes shape

The present church structure was built in 1990, followed by the fellowship hall addition in 1997–1998.

Today

Still a community church

The building and congregation have changed through the years, but GBCC continues to be a community of people seeking after God and serving their neighbors.
